I have a flight that leaves Xian at 8:30 am on a Sun. morning. Some websites say the shuttle starts leaving Xian at 6am and others say it starts at 7am. If it starts at 6:00 are they usually on time? Does this allow enough time to the airport and catch my flight or, am I better off arranging a taxi? Thanks.

This is a late reply, but maybe it could be useful for someone in the future.

The airport shuttle departing from in front of the Melody Hotel fills up FAST for the first trip (6AM) every morning. The bus also departs as soon as it fills, meaning more often than not the '6AM' bus half way to the airport when 6AM rolls around! I've taken the '6AM' bus twice, and it departed for the airport at 5:25 and 5:35. Traffic that early is also very minimal, so the trip goes quite fast.

Just make sure you get to the Melody Hotel plenty early or you may find yourself waiting for the 7AM bus or frantically trying to find a taxi. Also be sure to avoid anyone in front of the hotel trying to sell you a bus ticket - for the actual bus, tickets are purchased once on board.
