Jiuzhaigou National Park (Nine Stockade Gully) was established during the Qin Dynasty and renamed to Jiuzhaigou County in 1998.
Mt. Emei lies in the southwestern area of Sichuan basin. Its main peak is called the Golden Summit and the highest peak is the Wan Fo Ding (Ten Thousand Buddhas) Summit, 3099 meters above the sea level.
Wolong National Nature Reserve is located in the boundaries of Wenchuan County, Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, by the left bank of upper reach of Minjiang River and the east slope of Gonglai Mountain, and 134 kilometers away from the capital city Chengdu.
Huanglongxi Ancient Town is located in southeast Chengdu, just 40kilometers from downtown Chengdu. The Qing dynasty-style architecture is still protected well.
The Sanxingdui Museum is near an archaeological site that dates to the Neolithic, Shang and Zhou periods. In 1988 this site was declared a National Key Cultural Relics Protected Unit, due to its scope, the wealth of its contents, and the rarity and precious nature of its excavated objects.
Qingyang Temple is located in the northwest of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is one of the most famous Taoist temples in China.
Baoguang Temple, situated in Xindu County, is 18 kilometers away from Chengdu City. It is not only one of the oldest temples in Sichuan Province, but is also one of the four most renowned Buddhist temples in South China.
Mt. Qingcheng is located in the Dujiangyan scenic area, 50km northwest of Chengdu, Sichuan. It is one of the ancient cradles of Taoism.
The Dujiangyan is a town 60km northwest of Chengdu, and Dujiangyan Irrigation System is situated on the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, a tributary of Yangzi River that flows through Dujiangyan City.
Wuhou Memorial Temple, which is located in the south of Chengdu, is a famous historical site dedicated to the memory of both Liu Bei (161-223), Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), and Zhuge Liang (181-234), Prime Minister of the kingdom.
The Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is located in the western suburbs of Chengdu. It is the former residence of the celebrated Tang dynasty poet, Du Fu.
